Reinventing An Industry

Kiwis's leading the way with honest, local and affordable waste & recycling solutions

Here at Northland Waste, we firmly believe in the power of community. Our story began twenty years ago when our founders, an unlikely duo of an environmental scientist and a local contractor, met to put a plan in place to make a positive change. In an industry dominated by large multinationals, the vision was simple: To provide a local, honest, and affordable waste and recycling service that puts our customers first.

Pioneering change in the waste industry

On a sunny day in January 2009, with not much fuss, Northland Waste was launched from a leaky port-a-com. We didn't need much back then, but we did have a bunch of good people, two trucks, one digger, 100 bins and a big dream.

The early days were far from easy, but we never lost sight of our goal to challenge the stronghold of the corporate giants by providing exceptional local services that were more responsive and cost-effective than the rest. We kept our focus on putting the customer first, and soon enough word spread about us and our customer base began to rapidly expand. As demand grew, so did we.

In 2013, we were eager to answer the call of our customers who wanted us to expand our services to Wellington and Auckland. We knew it was the right decision, so without hesitation, we took a leap of faith and launched our sister brands Econowaste & Low Cost Bins.

Fast forward twelve short years, a pinch of luck, and more good people, and we now care for 250,000 customers from Wellington to Kaitaia. Our operations have expanded to include just over 150 trucks, two sister brands, and eight branches, and are thankfully now minus one leaky port-a-com.

As we continue growing, we have stayed true to our simple vision; and our core values remain unchanged:

Always local, always kiwi.
