Health & Safety

Safety is everyone’s priority at Northland Waste and providing a safe and healthy work environment is paramount.

NWL’s commitment to understanding current practices – and initiating positive and ongoing change, is demonstrated in being one of the first companies in the country to be assessed as ‘Performing’ in the Government-endorsed model of what ‘good’ health and safety practices and performance looks like (SafePlus Assessment). We also meet IMPAC and Sitewise Prequalification system requirements.

Northland Waste strives to exceed all Health and Safety legislation, regulations and approved codes of practice. Our philosophy is one of ensuring ‘buy in’ from all staff into Health & Safety processes by adopting a ground up approach in which all employees have a say on safety led initiatives.

Northland Waste is also an elected member of the Waste MINZ Industry Health and Safety Steering committee which has recently released revised best practice guidelines for the operation of Waste Collection Vehicles and Resource Recovery Sites.

Not only do we have a commitment to develop our internal management systems to the highest standard, but also working with industry to set the standards for best practice, demonstrates our experience and commitment to safety, and experience in the management of recovery sites.
